Mouth cancer in Milton Keynes
Mouth cancer is an uncommon type of cancer, accounting for one in 50 of all cancer cases. It is where a tumour develops on the surface of the tongue, mouth, lips or gums.
Tumours can also occur in the salivary glands, tonsils and the pharynx (the part of the throat from your mouth to your windpipe) but these are less common.
Common Symptoms;
- red or white patches on the lining of your mouth or tongue
- ulcers
- a lump
Life style factors such as heavy drinking and smoking make us more vulnerable to mouth cancers. If the above symptoms persist without healing for any prolonged period (i.e more than 2 weeks) please consult the dentist as soon as possible.
